Alfred Angelo claims deadline approaching
CHERRY HILL, N.J. (WPVI) -- It was a happy ending for Jeanna Cooper after our Action News producer delivered her bridesmaids gowns this afternoon.
The panicked bride-to-be contacted us after learning the dresses for her November nuptials were being held hostage at the now shuttered Alfredo Angelo bridal boutique in Cherry Hill.
Turns out, Cooper wasn't the only bride left scrambling.
"I don't even know what I am going to do," said Tiffany Hutchins, of Gibbsburg, New Jersey. "I am probably going to have to get a dress off the rack."
Tiffany Hutchins' wedding is just 8 weeks out.
She said she saw the twitter frenzy that the bridal boutique suddenly closed.
Samantha Stapleton said all her bridesmaids gowns are inside the now locked up shop. She along with dozens of other panicked customers all showed up at the boutique on Route 70 looking for answers.
"I got a text yesterday saying that they closed the doors and I couldn't get the dresses," said Stapleton."
When Action News arrived our camera caught employees boxing up gowns and other items.
Outside the frantic brides tried to get their attention, even calling the police. Then they took to holding up notes with their names, pleading for their merchandise, in hopes the woman inside would sneak their paid-for gowns out the door.
When an employee finally did answer the said they were not allowed to comment.
Off camera she told us, they were told to lock up shop last night with no explanation.
And then, some hope for those waiting in the rain.
Dresses that were in stock were handed out by the two good hearted employees inside, including the dresses for Cooper to our producer.
Now for wedding parties who still have merchandise at Alfred Angelo, a note on the door tells customers if the dress was in the store, it may be shipped to you.
Another note also directs customers to contact the company's attorney.

You have less than two weeks left to file a claim with the United States Bankruptcy Court.
The company announced Wednesday that those left high and dry, when the stores shut their doors over the summer, must provide proof of their loss by November 27th.
Below are the directions the company provided us for filing a claim.

If your Proof of Claim is not filed by November 27, it will not be allowed. Filing will not guarantee that the claim will be paid.
