TREVOSE, Pa. (WPVI) -- A teenage girl has died following a hit-and-run accident in Trevose, Bucks County.

Officials at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital confirm Jess Kurtz, 18, died from injuries sustained in the accident Tuesday.

Police are still searching for the driver who struck Kurtz along with another 18-year-old victim on Street Road in Trevose, Bucks County Monday night.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. along Street Road near Philmont Avenue.

Bensalem Township and Lower Southampton Township police arrived to find a man and woman, both 18 years old, lying on the street after being struck by a pickup truck. The male victim told police he witnessed the driver briefly attempting to help.

"The subject stopped temporarily, helped move the female victim to the side of the road and then fled eastbound on Street Road into Bensalem Township," Lower Southampton Township Police Chief Ted Krimmel said.

With help from the victim and evidence gathered from the scene, police came up with a detailed description of the suspect's vehicle: a 1997 two-tone maroon and tan or grey, 2-door Ford pickup truck with a ladder rack and a ladder.

Police say the striking vehicle should be missing a passenger side mirror and have a broken passenger side headlight.

The driver is described as a black male, approximately 30 years of age, 6' 1 or 6' 2, thin build, seen wearing a blue baseball cap (possibly the New York Knicks), black shirt and dark jeans.

Next door neighbors Kathy and Fred Clayton watched Kurtz grow up, and they are praying that the driver turns himself in.

"I would like to see that driver turn himself in, make amends for hitting somebody and leaving them there," Kathy Clayton said.

Lower Southampton police are asking anyone with information on the vehicle or the suspect to call 215-357-1234.
