Officials say an underground fire and explosion blew off a manhole cover in Center City Philadelphia late Thursday night.

Officials say an underground fire and explosion blew off a manhole cover and damaged a basement in Center City Philadelphia late Thursday night.

Firefighters responded to the electrical fire around 11:45 p.m. on the 1500 block of Sansom Street.

Crews located the fire in a basement inside a building.

PECO crews are investigating if a transformer sparked the fire.

There were no injuries reported.
