PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A minimum wage increase will be put on the ballot in Philadelphia.

City council adopted legislation to put the question before voters in May.

Pennsylvania's minimum wage is $7.25 an hour.

The referendum will ask voters to call upon the General Assembly to raise the minimum wage to $15 by 2025 or allow the city to increase the wage in Philadelphia.
