VIDEO: Saving Junior League
The Junior League of Philadelphia Thrift Store in Ardmore is back open for business.

ARDMORE, Pa. (WPVI) -- The Junior League of Philadelphia in Ardmore has recently reopened after being closed the last several months for construction.

The thrift shop is located on West Lancaster Avenue and there is lots to choose from.

"Membership and the community donate to the thrift shop and they have filled us right back up," said Emily Schwarz of the Junior League of Philadelphia.

You'll find everything from clothing, shoes and hats for men, women, and children to books, housewares, and even furniture.

"College students love to come here and fill up their apartments," said Schwarz.

They have some deep discounted designer clothes, including an Adrianna Papell blue dress for $20, a Tadashi floral gown for $40 and even some items from Lilly Pulitzer.

It's a great place for people to come for prom dresses and evening gowns, too.

Available gowns include Carmen Marc Valvo for $50, Nicole Miller for $20 and Laundry, also for $20.

Many women's blouses and sweaters are just $8 and you can even find wedding gowns here, some priced as low as $50 to $100.

Men's ties are $4 a piece and you'll find lots of suits for as low as $30.

And when you're shopping here, you can feel good about where your money's going.

"The money goes toward our "Apple a Day" Healthy Initiative," says Schwarz.

The Initiative is designed to improve the health and wellness of adults and children in the Greater Philadelphia area, in part by feeding struggling families.

And as part of the Apple A Day Initiative, the Junior League will host a health fair this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lankenau Medical Center.

There you can get free screenings, massages and tips for healthy living.
