NORTHEAST EXTENSION (WPVI) -- The northbound lanes of the Northeast Extension have reopened following crash that left one person dead Monday afternoon.
It happened around 12:45 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway just before the Lehigh Valley exit.
State police say there was an earlier accident in a construction zone and traffic was at a standstill when a box truck rear-ended a tractor trailer.
The driver of the box truck was killed.
Northbound lanes of the Northeast Extension were closed for hours, and traffic was being detoured at Quakertown.
However, just before 5 p.m. the northbound lanes were reopened.
So far, no word on what led to the crash or the identity of the driver that was killed.
