GALLOWAY TWP., New Jersey (WPVI) -- The man who has been serving as acting president of Stockton University has agreed to stay on as the school deals with the complicated deal to buy the Showboat Casino.

Doctor Harvey Kesselman replaced Herman Saatkamp last month. The appointment was supposed to be temporary, since Kesselman was set to become the president of the University of Southern Maine this summer.

But the Board of Trustees asked Kesselman to stay on since the school is involved in a legal dispute over the Showboat. It bought the property with plans to convert it to campus space. But a 1988 agreement requires the property be used as a casino.
