Trash truck catches wires, brings down utility pole

A trash truck traveling with its bucket in the raised position caught wires overhead bringing down a utility pole in Wilmington.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A trash truck traveling with its bucket in the raised position caught wires overhead bringing down a utility pole in Wilmington.

The accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. Thursday on the 1700 block of Marsh Road.

Police say wires fell on the trash truck and a car-carrying tractor trailer parked on the roadside.

The accident caused a power outage in the area.

A Delmarva Power spokesperson says around 680 customers were impacted.
