OCEAN CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Firefighters rescued several people who were trapped in a burning home off the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Crews were called to a three-story house on the 900 block of Saint Charles Place around 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

"The homeowner came down to find a room downstairs that had been on fire. He attempted to put the fire out himself, did not successfully do that. He was able to get out and call 911 at that point," Ocean City Fire Chief Chris Breuning said.

Firefighters arrived and found six people on one deck and two more on another.

Crews were able to rescue all of them.

However, seven people, including a firefighter, suffered minor injuries.

Investigators are looking for the cause.
