BOULDER, Colorado (WPVI) -- A Boulder, Colorado, company has developed medical marijuana that looks and acts more like traditional pharmaceuticals.

Wana Caps, which were developed by Wana Brands along with the Israeli company Cannabics, are the first time-release cannabis capsules.

They contain 2 doses of marijuana - one that kicks in almost immediately, and another which starts working about 4 hours later.

The company says the goal was to provide more sustained relief and less of a 'high.'

It says the capsules are an alternative to smoking or edible marijuana.

"We feel like we are making an important step in giving patients another alternative in consuming cannabis," says Wana Brands owner John Whiteman.
