Drivers planning to use I-476 for their early Sunday morning commute will have to find an alternative route.

Turnpike officials said an 11-mile stretch of the highway will close in both directions for 6 hours starting at 12:01 a.m. Sunday.

Lanes will be closed between the Mid-County (exit 20) and Lansdale (exit 31) interchanges.

Drivers who are traveling in southbound lanes after midnight will be directed off at the Lansdale Interchange. Northbound access to the Northeast Extension from Mid-County will be denied.

Motorists wishing to travel north from the Mid-County Interchange or the east/west Turnpike mainline will be directed to exit I-276 at the Fort Washington Interchange (exit 339) to return to I-476 at Lansdale.

Lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday.
