A class from Haverford beat more than 100 other classrooms to win at the National Constitution Center

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- A 5th grade class from Haverford beat more than 100 other classrooms to win a thousand dollar prize at the National Constitution Center.

The students from Chestnutwold Elementary took 1st place in the Lenfest Citizenship Challenge essay contest.

Before the presidential election, they were asked whether the electoral college system should be eliminated and replaced with the national popular vote.

Tuesday the ten finalists presented their responses, and a panel including Governor Ed Rendell chose Chestnutwold as the winners of the whole thing.
