HORSHAM, Pa. (WPVI) -- A classroom reading assignment has inspired some Montgomery County students to help strangers in another country.
Keith Valley Middle Schoolers have raised more than 21 hundred dollars so far, to help the people of Sudan.
The 7th graders recently learned about the country's civil war and poverty, when their teacher asked them to read the novel "a long walk to water".
The students plan to continue fundraising until they meet their goal of 6-thousand dollars, that money will build a well to provide clean water in South Sudan.
