A single engine plane crashed into the Little Lehigh River in Allentown on Friday morning.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A single engine plane crashed into the Little Lehigh River in Allentown on Friday morning.

The plane went down around 11 a.m. just west of the I-78 overpass.

The pilot is now out of the airplane and has been taken to a local hospital.

The pilot was conscious at the time, according to police.

There was no word on why the plane went down.

No other injuries have been reported.

The FAA said the plane is a Zenith CH750 experimental aircraft.
