Worker injured after tree-trimming crane overturns in East Falls

A worker was injured in a crane accident in East Falls.

EAST FALLS (WPVI) -- First responders were on the scene of an accident involving a tree-trimming crane in the East Falls section of Philadelphia.

It happened around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Penn Charter School on the 3000 block of West School House Lane.

The school had contracted with the Arader Tree Service company out of Conshohocken, Pa.

They were brought in to take down a diseased tree at the front of the school.

The crew deployed heavy equipment including a crane and a bucket truck.

The crane is used to remove the limbs of the tree.

The crane tipped over and injured a worker.

He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No children or staff were near the area at the time of the incident.

The police department's truck inspection unit is investigating what exactly went wrong.
