Motorist hurt after sedan rear-ends tow truck in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A motorist is hospitalized after colliding with a tow truck in South Philadelphia.

The Action Cam was on the scene at Penrose and Pattison Avenues after 2 a.m. Monday.

Police say it appears the driver of a sedan felt asleep at the wheel before losing control and slamming into the back of a tow truck.

First responders had to extricate the motorist from the sedan.

The victim suffered multiple injuries and was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.

The tow truck driver was also taken to a hospital to be evaluated.

So far no charges have been filed.
