2-alarm fire breaks out at Allentown garage

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Firefighters responded to a two alarm fire at an Allentown garage Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 12:20 p.m. at Harry's U-Pull It garage and junkyard on the 1500 block of East Jonathan Street.

A forklift operator accidentally hit a gasoline tank in a warehouse used to drain fluids from cars.

The punctured tank ignited almost immediately, sending flames and thick smoke billowing from the garage.'

Everyone got out safely.

Hazmat teams initially evacuated a two block radius due to the chemicals in the warehouse.

Their main focus now is keeping the runoff from getting into the Lehigh River.
