According to police, the shooting happened at Gratz and Dauphin streets just after 9:30 p.m.
Officials say a 2-year-old, the child's mother, and a man were all shot amid the gunfire. The child turned three years old on Tuesday.
Police said they believe someone in a white car stopped and fired several shots down the block and struck the three victims.
