Chopper 6 was overhead around 4 p.m. where it appeared one vehicle crashed into the woods in Winslow Township.
The westbound lanes between exits 33 and 38 heading toward Philadelphia were closed for hours.
According to police, the passenger in the car, who has been identified as 36-year-old Percell Gray of Philadelphia, suffered fatal injuries in the wreck.
The driver, who has not yet been identified, was seriously injured.
An investigation into the incident is being led by the New Jersey State Police.
