Study: Washing apples with just water may not wash away pesticides

Saturday, October 28, 2017
How do you wash your apples before eating them?

If you just use water, you're most likely leaving those pesticides on the skin.

Researchers at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst tested different ways to wash those chemicals off produce.

They tested a bleach solution, baking soda and plain tap water.

They found that the baking soda solution was the best at removing chemicals.

Another option is to peel the apples, but there are key nutrients in the skin.
