BENSALEM, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Police are looking for the driver who fled the scene after a 14-year-old pedestrian was killed in Bensalem, Bucks County late Thursday night.

It happened around 10:15 p.m. on Street Road just before the Route 1 overpass, a place that neighbors say is busy and dangerous.

"Oh man, it's devastating," said Brandon Walker. "I'm scared to cross the highway, and I'm a grown man."
Police tell Action News it appears the teens were playing in the road and were there for some time before it happened.

The driver of a dark gray four-door sedan, possibly a Honda, swerved to miss the first juvenile and is believed to have hit the 14-year-old.

While he was lying in the road, police say the teen was hit by a Hyundai SUV.

The sedan driver got back in his vehicle and fled before police arrived. That driver was last seen driving westbound on Street Road going into Lower Southampton Twp.

The driver of the Hyundai SUV remained on the scene.

Police aren't blaming the drivers for causing the crash. However, drivers are required to stay at the scene so they are asking the public for help.

Neighbors say they often see kids out on Street Road making videos and are worried more kids could be hit.

"They in the road. They in the road with it. I don't know if it's a TikTok challenge going on, or what's going on, but they down there dancing by the highway," said Reshia Jones.

Investigators are not yet sure why the teens were in the road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bensalem police at (215) 633-3719.
