It all started around 7 a.m. Thursday when a man was shot in his home on West Ashdale Street.

Then, less than two hours later, gunfire erupted on the same street, critically wounding one man and injuring a bus driver who happened to be passing by.
The private bus was carrying 12 passengers to an adult day care was it was caught in the crossfire just before 9 a.m.
"It appears there were multiple shooters and there were numerous spent cartridge casings in the area of 2nd and West Ashdale," said Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace.
Philadelphia police were two blocks away, serving a search warrant for an unrelated home invasion when the gunfire erupted.
They ran to the scene and found a 32-year-old man in an alleyway with a gunshot wound to the head.

The bus driver had also been shot but kept driving until he found a safe spot to pull over at 9th and Courtland near the Roosevelt Boulevard.
"We have a bus driving transporting members of the elderly community to a place where they can continue to get care and this sort of thing happens. It's certainly intolerable," said Pace.
Bullets sprayed the Metro Fleet bus, shattering the driver's side window and hitting the driver in the upper body.
He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The passengers were shaken up, but uninjured.

That shootout on West Ashdale Street also sent young children running for cover as they were heading to the Morrison J Andrew school, one of three schools placed on lockdown for several hours.
"I seen all the kids running. They was like, 'Hurry up, hurry up' and I had my grandson and I said, 'Let's run, run, run.' So we ran to the school yard and that's when the crossing guard lady said there had been a shootout," she said.
Police also say another man was shot and took himself to the hospital. There was no word on his condition or how he's related to all this.
