Troopers say a car burst into flames in the westbound lanes around 1 a.m. on Friday.
It happened in Winslow Township, Camden County.
Firefighters battled flames to pull the trapped occupant from the vehicle.
That person was pronounced dead.
State police continue to investigate the cause.
