Police say the boy was taken to the hospital on Wednesday with multiple serious injuries to his head and torso, along with internal injuries.
The child died on Thursday.
Twenty-eight-year-old Edjuan Blackshear is charged with child abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
Additional charges are expected.
