2 police pursuits result in 4 arrests in double carjacking case

The chases began around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wawa on Pennrose Avenue in South Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Four people are in custody following two police chases related to a double carjacking in the Philadelphia area.

The incident started at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday when a man flagged down police officers at a Wawa on the 2600 block of Penrose Avenue in South Philadelphia.

The man told police that two suspects in a Dodge Charger held him at gunpoint and stole his Honda Accord.

Police chased the suspects before the Honda crashed on the on-ramp to the Walt Whitman Bridge.

The Charger continued to the Betsy Ross Bridge, where another patrol unit pursued those suspects into Camden, New Jersey.

That's when the Charger also crashed, police say.

Overall, four suspects were arrested, two from each vehicle.



A gun and gun magazine were also recovered at the scene.
