ELK TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- One person is dead following a crash on Route 55 approaching Exit 48 in Elk Township, New Jersey early Thursday.
Police said the fatal accident occurred near the approach to Ellis Mill Road and it involved a pedestrian.

Reports are that one car is on the shoulder while another veered off into nearby woods.
Currently only one lane is getting by on Route 55 northbound as police investigate.
