It happened around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Bartram and Essington avenues.
Police say the driver was traveling southbound on Bartram Ave. when it appears he slid on an ice patch, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into a tree. The 51-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released his identity.
