Fire crews said they found heavy flames from the first and second floors of a townhome upon arrival.
Residents say the fire was a shocking sight.
"I was in the house, laying down, watching the Dallas game. Somebody knocked on the door and told me, 'Hurry up and come on outside,'" said James Davis from Germantown. "I came outside saw nothing but red flames coming out the walls."
Firefighters had a majority of the flames extinguished just before 8 p.m. The blaze was placed under control just before 8:30 p.m.
