Study shows drinking while pregnant increases risk of preterm birth

Saturday, September 16, 2017
It's the age-old question, is it safe for women to enjoy a drink while pregnant?

The answer is no, according to a new analysis published this week in BMJ Open.

Researchers assessed the risks of drinking alcoholic beverages during pregnancy from recent studies.

They found that consuming just two to three drinks a week can increase the risk of preterm birth by ten percent.

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists suggests women refrain from all drinking during pregnancy.
