Uber helping riders sign up for health care this weekend

Thursday, November 9, 2017
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Ride sharing service, Uber, is driving an unusual initiative this weekend.

It is holding events in 28 cities offering in-person assistance in signing up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act.

The company says it's making the move because there's a big appetite for health insurance among its 600,000 drivers. However, advertising and assistance for the federal marketplace has been cut by 90 percent.

Other high-tech companies are making similar efforts.
