PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say a man is dead after a hit-and-run crash in Germantown on Sunday morning, and the search is on for a tow truck driver who was apparently involved.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday at East Chelten Avenue and Ardleigh Street.

Police say a tow truck ran a red light and crashed into the 51-year-old man's car, killing him.

Sources tell Action News the victim's name is Kenneth Minor.

The impact was so powerful that it damaged three more cars parked along the road.

Witnesses tell Action News they saw the tow truck driver running away from the scene.

Homeowners spent the day removing their damaged cars and cleaning up the area.

"Chelten Ave. and Chew Ave. are one of the main areas where these tow trucks really be zooming and speeding down," said Terrence Wiggins of Germantown. "It sucks we have to have an unfortunate accident like this one."

"I'm 28 and my dad is still like, 'be careful going across the street.' Because he knows how it is around here," said Wiggins. "Red light? They run straight through them."

The sound of the crash woke neighbors out of their sleep. One man tells Action News the force of the crash pushed his car down the street.

Police are still looking for the driver, hoping surveillance video from nearby businesses will help piece everything together.
