PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A mother is asking for prayers after her 25-year-old daughter was struck and critically injured while crossing a North Philadelphia street last week.

Police said they are looking for a vehicle involved in the hit-and-run crash at N. Broad Street and Susquehanna Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The victim, who has been identified by her mother as Hayley Worrell, was thrown through the air, leaving her with a fractured skull, hip, and other severe injuries. The driver never stopped.

"I don't wish this upon any parent," said the victim's mother, Coleen Worrell. "The pain is just indescribable."

Coleen says her daughter is a Cooper University Hospital employee and lives along Broad Street, not far from where the hit-and-run happened.

Coleen was emotional after getting an update from doctors on Tuesday.

"It is so severe that the odds of her ever being my same Hayley is probably not going to be the same, so I ask anybody that knows anything about the car or the driver to please bring it to the police's attention," Coleen said, adding, "I can't describe the pain and I ask for prayers for my Hayley."

"We all walk, and I think that this is something that people talk about when they want to make cities more walkable," said Jason Husisian, who was walking near the site of the incident. "If you hit someone and you're scared, you would at least check to make sure if you killed them or not."

Police released surveillance video of the incident and images of the vehicle, which they said is a gray Nissan with a sunroof. The front driver-side wheel is black and the others are silver.

Action News pauses the video right before Hayley is struck.

Police are asking for anyone who recognizes the car to call them.

"What they did was wrong and now my daughter may not ever have quality of life again," Coleen said. "If anybody knows anything about what happened, please report it to the police."

Hayley is said to be in extremely critical condition with a severe brain injury at Temple University Hospital.
