FELTONVILLE (WPVI) -- A woman was seriously injured after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia.

Neighbors say they heard the impact just after 1:20 a.m. Saturday

"Before I went to sleep, I heard a boom, bam, crash," said Julie Reid of Feltonville.

That crash was a women being hit by a car.

Philadelphia police say she was tossed through the air and suffered numerous injuries.

Detectives say they're on the hunt now for a white Nissan car with a broken headlight.

The violent hit-and-run happened right at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and Lawrence Street.

"That's coward. That's being a coward," said Ester Castillo of Feltonville.

Neighbors expressed their disgust.

They say this was an accident waiting to happen.

"Around here it's dangerous crossing the street," said Castillo.

They add they can't understand how someone could be so cowardly to hit a women and never stop to help.

"That's somebody's life," said Castillo.

"You said it in a mouthful. It's just pretty jacked up. Nobody should hit nobody and run," said Reid.

The victim is listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital after undergoing surgery.

No other injuries were reported.

Police are hoping the area surveillance cameras will help in finding the driver and vehicle.
