It happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday on the highway near the Cottman Avenue exit in a construction zone.
Chopper 6 over the scene showed a truck and two vehicles were involved in the crash.
Pennsylvania State Police say at least one person was transported to the hospital. The person's condition has not been released.
All northbound lanes were shut down for approximately a half hour before emergency crews allowed one lane of traffic to get by.
The other lanes were closed for more than three hours.
The crash remains under investigation.
