KENT, Ohio (WPVI) -- At a time when some athletes are sitting out the national anthem, or going down on one knee, one team in Ohio is taking another approach as a show of unity.

At Kent State University's basketball game Wednesday night, the team celebrated diversity.

Each team member invited fans from the crowd and folks of all of different races to join them courtside and sing together.

One team member said: "We understand all of the issues going on in our world and in these times, we felt it was important to show a sign of unity in our community."

They plan to keep this new tradition going for every home game this year.
