Store clerk critically injured during shooting inside North Philadelphia deli

Officers say a 34-year-old man was shot multiple times throughout his body.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating after a store clerk was found shot and critically injured inside a North Philadelphia deli on Wednesday night.

It happened just after 7:30 p.m. at the Carolina Market on the 2600 block of Lehigh Avenue.

Officers say the suspect walked into the store, waited in line, and shot the victim who was sitting behind the counter.

The 34-year-old employee was shot multiple times throughout his body.

The victim was transported to Temple University Hospital by police, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police say surveillance footage caught the incident from multiple angles.



The suspect was wearing a green hoodie and a colorful hat, and he was approximately 5'11" tall, according to officials.

He fled the scene on foot, running south on 27th Street.

No arrests have been made and no weapons were recovered at the scene.
