Woman seriously injured in Newport collision

NEWPORT, Del. (WPVI) -- A woman was seriously injured after two cars collided in Newport, Delaware.

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. Friday outside the Minquas Fire Company No. 1, located near the intersection of North James and East Justis streets.

Police say a Ford Fusion and Saturn collided, causing the Saturn to overturn and strike a pole.

A woman inside the Saturn was trapped for about 30 minutes while crews worked to free her.

She was rushed by medics to Christiana Hospital with serious, but nonlife-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.
