You will see Philadelphia police at the NFL Draft, and there will also be a lot of law enforcement you won't see blending in.
The NFL has hired a private security company.
"We are prepared for it. We are ready for it and I think it's going to be a good thing for the city," Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross said.
Security beefs up for NFL Draft
Like the 2016 draft in Chicago, Philadelphia expects 200,000 fans to attend.
Commissioner Ross says they got feedback from Chicago police.
Besides the actual draft at night, daylong interactive exhibits will fill the Ben Franklin Parkway.
The list of restricted items include:
No bags, purses, or backpacks larger than 16" x 14" x 12"
All weapons and firearms are prohibited including pepper spray and electronic stunning devices
No pets other than service animals
No bottles, cans, liquid containers, coolers (except for fans with medical / dietary needs)
No outside food or beverage
No video recorders except for credentialed media
No drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) of any kind
No missile-like objects
No hover boards or any other self-propelled devices
No smoking, lighters or e-cigarettes
No laser pointers
No artificial noisemakers
No poles or sticks of any kind, including selfie sticks
No object that may obstruct another fan's view, including umbrellas over 4' in diameter
No folding chairs, bikes, or other large personal items
No promotional items with commercial slogans or identification without written consent from the NFL
Any item deemed dangerous or inappropriate, in management's sole discretion, will not be allowed at Draft and NFL Draft Experience
Confiscated items will be disposed of and not returned
Besides collaborating with the NFL, the city is again relying on multiple law enforcement agencies like they did during the papal event and Democratic National Convention.
"We're very happy and proud of the collaboration we have with our partners in the city because we can't get it done alone," Ross said.
Mayor Jim Kenney threw confidence behind police Tuesday night, reminding folks of another big event in town at the same time expected to draw 100,000 people.
"I have every confidence in our police department and commissioner. We also have the Penn Relays by the way, so there's another large event that's very important to the city," Kenney said.
