PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A day care was briefly evacuated after a car crash and gas leak on Monday morning in Northeast Philadelphia.

It all began around 10:52 a.m. at Frankford and Cottman avenues.

The vehicle hit a pole, which struck a gas line, causing a leak.

PGW arrived shortly after the crash and the incident was placed under control.

About 60 children had to be evacuated from a nearby day care as a precaution. They were allowed back inside around noon.

Some streets in the area were shut down after the crash, but they have since reopened.
