SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Officials broke ground on a new residence hall Thursday at the University of the Sciences.

It's expected to have beds for more than 400 students along with classrooms and retail space.

The construction is underway at the site of the former Alexander Wilson Elementary.

This building is set to open in the winter of 2018, and will replace the housing currently owned by the university.
