PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Party on the Pier at Rivers Casino in Philadelphia was a big hit on Sunday as celebrators came out for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Before the fun and games began, Action News caught a few of them outside the venue enjoying themselves.

Many were playing lawn games to kick off the party.

"It's really nice, it's a great setup. I like it, the music is good; getting ready to get something to eat. This is how you celebrate the Fourth of July," said Kimberly Beard from Delran, New Jersey.

The event took place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and guests got to enjoy live outdoor music from The Ultimate King of Pop, a Michael Jackson tribute band.

Food trucks also lined the event for anyone hungry.

"We have about four or five different food trucks with us, anything ranging from chicken fried waffles to smoothies to barbeque chicken, everything! We have music here," said Michael Klimek, the director of advertising for Rivers Casino Philadelphia.

The event was free and pet-friendly, with games included for people of all ages.

Patricia Leon says her family came down from Queens, New York City for the day.

"We came here by accident last year and obviously it was a lot of fun so we came back this year," she said.

Plus, most people in attendance dawned the patriotic red, white and blue color scheme.

"We're celebrating the Fourth of July, Independence Day, so we just wanted to show the colors for it," said Leon, who was decked out in America's colors.

Fireworks were also set off over the Delaware River later in the evening.
