Driver killed by flying debris on Pennsylvania Turnpike identified

WHITEMARSH TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- Police have identified the driver who was struck and killed by flying debris on Friday morning on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Gregory Leiber, 57, died after the incident around 9:15 a.m.

According to investigators, the Langhorne, Pa. man was driving on I-276 eastbound just past the Norristown exit in Whitemarsh Township.

State police say a truck driving in the westbound lanes struck debris on the roadway, sending it over the concrete barrier.

That debris hit Leiber in the head, killing him.

Video from Chopper 6 showed a black vehicle stopped at the scene with a hole in the windshield.

Police say they are trying to find the truck that hit the debris as the investigation continues.
