CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- An 11-year-old child was wounded by a stray bullet that pierced through a home in Chester, Delaware County, police say.

Police say someone fired shots outside on the 3400 block of Township Line Road shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday.

One bullet entered a home through a screen door and hit the boy in the chest.

Paramedics took him to Crozer Chester Medical Center in stable condition and then transferred him to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Officials say they will not be releasing his name because of his age.

Neighbors say the boy played with kids on the block outside all the time and were shocked to find out that he was the victim.

"It's just frightening. Because my heart just sunk thinking about. I didn't know it was our little neighbor. He comes here every day and plays," neighbor Daisy Rivera said.

"Very sad and praying to God that he pulls through and everything is fine," neighbor Leslie Ann Maier said.

Police are still looking for the shooter, and are asking anyone who has information to contact investigators at 610-447-8420.
