1 killed, 1 injured in North Philadelphia shooting

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another injured.

It happened just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday along the 100 block of West Gurney Street in North Philadelphia.

Arriving officers found a 19-year-old Edward Mateas from the 3200 block of North 6th Street suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and neck. He was rushed to Temple University where he died.

A second 22-year-old male victim, who was originally transported to Episcopal Hospital by private auto, was located with a gunshot wound to the nose. He was also transported to Temple. He is listed in critical condition.

No arrests have been made.
