Philadelphia firefighters to help with hurricane relief in Puerto Rico

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Four Philadelphia firefighters are on a mission to help the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

George Perez, Jr. and his colleagues checked in for their flight Friday morning at Philadelphia International Airport.

They are heading to the island to distribute food and water to the many residents who are still in dire need of help.

All four of these firefighters have family members in Puerto Rico.

They told Action News they are hoping to check on their loved ones during their visit.

The firefighters will be in Puerto Rico for two weeks.

They will be working with the Salvation Army throughout their trip.
