Driver, 2 students hurt in Kensington school bus crash

KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- Police say a teacher and two students were injured when a bus taking students to a Philadelphia charter school struck the back of a trailer being towed into a construction site.

Officials said the Philly Transit Bus Company bus had 10 students aboard at the time of the crash shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday in Kensington north of the center of the city.

The 31-year-old driver was taken to Temple University Hospital's Episcopal Campus for treatment of glass in her eyes and back pain. She was listed in stable condition.

Two students were taken to Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children for treatment of glass in their eyes. Both were also listed in stable condition.

Eight other students were taken to the Wissahickon charter school. The accident is under investigation.
A SEPTA bus was parked nearby. Action News is told that bus was not involved in the collision.
