Youth choirs commemorate civil rights milestone

Wednesday, May 3, 2017
FAIRMOUNT (WPVI) -- Wednesday marked the 54th anniversary of a milestone in the civil rights movement: the Children's Crusade March in Birmingham, Alabama.

Youngsters ages 8 to 18 recreated that event Wednesday night through music in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia.

They performed a special hour-long piece called The Children's March.

Singers from the Keystone State Boychoir, the Pennsylvania GirlChoir and the Find Your Instrument Choir performed at the Girard College Chapel.

The production featured civil rights freedom songs and live narration.
