Commute brought to halt after SEPTA train hit by rock in Lawndale

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The evening commute was brought to a halt Friday after authorities say a SEPTA commuter train was struck by a rock.

It happened around 6 p.m. on the Fox Chase line near the Lawndale station.

Investigators say the rock hit the train as it traveled Northbound.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Service was suspended for about two hours as police investigated.
