SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A crowd gathered Saturday to say goodbye to 16-year-old Salvatore Dinubile.

The line for Dinuble's service at the Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church wrapped around the corner.

Those who knew the teen only had good things to say.

Police: South Philly gunfire connected to teen murders

"He was a great kid, always first to greet you, always had something nice to say about you," Frank Kelly of South Philadelphia said.

Pete Pacheco of South Philadelphia added, "He was like a brother to me. I just can't believe it was him."

Dinubile and another 16-year-old, Caleer Miller, were gunned down this past Tuesday.

It happened at the intersection of 12th and Ritner streets.

The moments directly after, as others scattered, were caught on security video.

Police identified the shooter as 16-year-old Brandon Olivieri.

On Friday night, Olivieri turned himself into Philadelphia Police Headquarters.

He hid his face then hugged two friends in what may have been his last moments of freedom.

Suspect in teen murders surrenders to police

At this point, there has been no word on a motive for why police say Olivieri pulled the trigger.

Many who knew Dinubile remain frustrated and confused why things had to come to this.

"Why do you gotta take someone's life? You can't just talk it out and be grown men," said Pacheco.

Olivieri has been charged for killing both teens.

Earlier Friday, before Olivieri turned himself in, his home on Juniper Street was shot into multiple times.

It has been a violent few days that many hope is over with.

"I hope a lot of people can learn from this and hopefully South Philly can change," said Kelly.

Marco Pirollo of South Philadelphia added, "We're supposed to be the City of Brotherly Love, what happened? What down the line made us not love?"

As the mourning process continues, the message from so many, especially so many young people, is that the violence stops.

Brandon Olivier is being held without bail. His preliminary hearing is set for November 15.
