Authorities received a call for a welfare check shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday along south Woodward and Priscilla streets.

Once there, an officer found a man passed out in the driver's seat of a BMW.

Police say the officer came upon an accident involving the BMW and an SUV along Fillmore and Pricilla streets.

The suspect then got out of the car and ran away.

It appears the suspect was on the run because he had several outstanding warrants, including DUI.

He was apprehended a short time later.

A woman in the SUV was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She has been upgraded to serious condition and is expected to survive.

No officers were injured in this incident.
